I considered getting some Bose QuietComfort headphones, but couldn't justify the price- and now I'm really glad I didn't! These earphones have solid audio quality and clarity, and with the Noise Canceling turned on, turn listening into a real treat. I frenquently work in noisy environments (like coffee shops, Panera...), and these have been a real help in reducing distractions. Yes, you can still hear some outside noise - but it sounds far away and prevents my mind from being bothered. Just flew to NYC, and these were AMAZING on the airplane at blocking out other people and the airplane noise- I was able to listen at a normal volume level and still hear everything perfectly... except the outside noise. Lows are not quite as deep as some high-end passive noise blocking earphones, but still very rich and full. Highs are crisp and extend further than the human hearing range. The battery case does seem to be made from cheap plastic, but the appearance is still nice and classy, and I have yet to have any problems with its construction quality after 100+ hours of use. I would definitely buy these again, and have been totally satisfied with the performance compared with other headsets.

I have researched noise cancelling headphones for several months. I have tested the Bose QuietComfort 2 headphones for several hours in my office (the building's furnace is below me and is noisy) as well as the Sennheiser PX-250 noise cancelling headphones. Price aside, I prefer the Audio-Tehnica ATH-ANC7. The ATs have an unbelievably excellent noise cancelling circuit. They cut the outside noise to practically nothing, while not producing a noticable hum or whine. The Sennheisers in particular were guilty of that. They also have excellent sound reproduction and are very comfortable. The ATs also have a longer cord than the Bose which make them more comfortable to use at a desk. Overall I couldn't be happier with this purchase and highly recommend them. The final benefit is their incredibly low price.
