Altec Lansing - IM413

Had bid on several refurb units (on eBay) but had always lost out. Besides, none of the refurbs had a remote. Then I came across Electronics-Expo via a price comparison web site (probably PriceGrabber .. I forget). The price here for new was not hugely more than refurb, and definitely better than other retailers. The unit is very easy to set up. I use it with a Sansa e260 (4GB). Inside the box was a reminder that I might need to update the firmware on my Sansa. When I docked the unit and started a play, no sound. I looked up the URL cited on the reminder slip and downloaded the update. Piece of cake to install, and to update my Sansa, and afterwards I got sound on the im413. Yay! The sound quality is impressive, given the small size. Bass boost and surround work nicely.

If you own a Sansa even the new Fuze, youl'll be happy to know that the iM413 is for you. Sound is crisp, and with the bass boost, it also features a surround sound effect which is quite cool for a unit as small as this. I was totally blown away by this unit. Most other systems are made specifically for iPods but not the iM413. The iM413 also sports a FM radio which reception is just fabulous. Sound is also dynamic. The remote control is small and handy. Features are power on/off, source, skip and replay, source and volume settings. The iM413 also has an a/c power supply unit and port for auxillary devices. This unit rates 5 stars. After a lot of shopping around, the best price I found for the iM413 was Electronics eXpo.
